About the event

Part 1 of a 2 part series: learn to build a simple but beautiful wood-frame cob oven base with a local teacher (and cob oven "bible" author), Kiko Denzer!  For many folks, the biggest challenge of building a wood-fired oven is the structure to raise it off the ground and support it. (This design will also allow for a simple metal shelter to protect your oven from the elements, or for a larger oven-shelter and/or outdoor kitchen.) Students will have the option to purchase a kit for building their own oven base at home.

Learn some basic but practical wood-working and tool skills in this first of a 2 part series on cob oven construction taught by Kiko Denzer. Part one of our series focuses on building the base of your oven using timber framing techniques widely applicable to other structures. Students will have the opportunity to purchase oven base kits for taking home. All materials and safety equipment will be provided. More information to come! (If there's time, you might also be able to make the peel for loading loaves in your oven!)
