About the event
Join Highland Woodshop and OSU STEMbassadors for a week of CNC exploration. CNC means Computer Numerical Control. This means a computer converts a design into numbers. The numbers can be considered to be the coordinates of a graph and they control the movement of a router head cutter, a machine we use regularly in Highland Woodshop. In this way the computer controls the cutting and shaping of the wood to convert your drawing/design into reality. A member of OSU STEMbassadors designed this CNC to be extremely user friendly for beginning operators. You're invited to submit your design for a Community Art Project, a collection of community submitted drawings that will be carved by the CNC and combined into a sort of wooden "quilt", to be installed on OSU campus on May 28th. Follow THIS link to the instructions on how to submit your art! Stop by Highland Woodshop to see OSU STEMbassadors and their CNC in action.
